Job Description

With a strong commitment to corporate responsibility, we are seeking an experienced VP, Sustainability to lead our sustainability initiatives and drive positive environmental and social impact across our organization.

As the VP, Sustainability, you will be a key member of our leadership team, responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive sustainability strategies that align with our business objectives and enhance our reputation as a responsible corporate citizen. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a pivotal role in integrating sustainability into our corporate strategy, embedding into business decision making and operations, and driving measurable progress towards our environmental and social goals.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development and Execution: Develop and execute a robust sustainability strategy that reflects our company's values, priorities, and long-term objectives, including reaching StarHub’s SBTi verified 2030 and 2050 goals. This includes setting sustainability goals, and performance indicators aligned with industry standards and stakeholder expectations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, customers, investors, regulators, partners, community organizations, vendors, ESG professionals and consultants and industry experts to foster collaboration and support for StarHub’s sustainability initiatives.
  • Environmental Impact Management: Uphold and improve upon StarHub’s market leadership in the sustainability space.  Lead efforts to decarboninse, minimize our environmental footprint and mitigate climate change risks through initiatives such as renewable energy and carbon credit adoption, energy optimisation improvements, waste reduction, and sustainable resource management. Implement robust automated environmental management systems to monitor, measure, and continuously improve our environmental performance, and ensure accuracy and accountability.
  • Reporting and Disclosure: Oversee the preparation and publication of our sustainability reports and disclosures. Familiarity withglobal reporting frameworks such as GRI, SASB, SGX core metric, TCFD, TNFD, CDP, ISSB. Provide transparent and accurate information to stakeholders on our sustainability performance, progress towards goals, and future commitments.
  • Social Responsibility: Champion CSR initiatives to promote social responsibility and ethical business practices, including diversity and inclusion programs, employee well-being initiatives, community investment, and philanthropic activities.  Uphold and improve StarHub’s reputation as a leader in community giving and purposeful initiatives.  Ensure that our organization upholds the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and respect for human rights.
  • Policy Advocacy: Stay abreast of relevant environmental and social regulations and trends, and advocate for policies that promote sustainability and responsible business practices.
  • Innovation and Technology: Identify and leverage innovative technologies and practices to advance sustainability goals, such as solutions for resource efficiency and green telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Employee Education and Engagement: Educate, motivate and inspire employees at all levels to embrace sustainability principles and integrate them into their daily work practices.
  • Risk Management: Identify sustainability-related risks and opportunities and develop strategies to mitigate climate risks and capitalize on opportunities to enhance the company's long-term resilience and competitiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, environmental engineering, business administration, law or related field. Master's degree or professional certification in ESG preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of leadership experience with proven track record in sustainability or corporate responsibility.  Experience within telecommunications, media or technology industry would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability principles, frameworks, and metrics, including reporting frameworks such as GRI, SASB, SGX Core metric, TCFD, TNFD, CDP, ISSB.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability strategies, initiatives, and programs that drive tangible business value and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and project management skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams and senior executives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to drive continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional people management, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage the Board of Directors, sustainability team, build consensus, resolve conflicts, and navigate complex stakeholder landscapes both internally and externally.
  • Experience in managing sustainability reporting and compliance.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate teams to drive change and innovation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental and social regulations and standards.
  • Passion for driving purposeful, positive social and environmental impact while achieving business success.
