Job Description

This role will report to the Head of Infrastructure, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the Software Defined Data Center infrastructure for Starhub. Your role will involve collaborating with stakeholders to understand their requirements, evaluating existing systems, and creating scalable and efficient architectures that integrate software-defined storage, networking, and virtualization technologies. You will ensure the data center environment is highly available, secure, and automated in managing and provisioning data center resources.

Responsibilities

• Design the overall SDDC architecture, including the integration of compute, storage, networking, and security components. 
• Virtualizing and abstracting compute, storage, and networking resources to enable the pooling and dynamic allocation of resources based on workload demands. This includes leveraging technologies such as server virtualization, software-defined storage, and software-defined networking.
• Implementing automation and orchestration frameworks to streamline the provisioning, deployment, and management of SDDC resources. This involves utilizing tools like configuration management, infrastructure-as-code, and orchestration platforms to automate routine tasks and ensure consistent configurations.
• Implementing software-defined storage (SDS) solutions to abstract storage resources and provide centralized management and provisioning. This includes technologies like storage virtualization, software-defined storage arrays, and storage automation frameworks.
• Incorporating security and compliance measures into the SDDC architecture. This involves designing and implementing security controls, such as micro-segmentation, security policies, encryption, and access controls, to ensure the protection of data and infrastructure.
• Developing monitoring and performance optimization strategies to ensure efficient utilization of SDDC resources. This includes implementing monitoring tools, analyzing performance metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and making recommendations for optimization.
• Participation in occasional 24/7 on-call rotations to detect prod issues, investigate root causes, and execute remedy plans.
   

Qualifications

• Degree in the field of Computer Science / Computer Application or related discipline
• Experience in designing, implementing, and managing Software-Defined Data Center environments.
• Proficiency in Hyper-Converged Infrastructure, virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proficiency in storage technologies, including software-defined storage and SAN/NAS architectures. 
• Familiarity with IT infrastructure components like servers, networking, security, and monitoring systems.
• Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) technologies like VMware NSX, Cisco ACI, or OpenStack Neutron is highly desirable.
• Experience with automation and orchestration tools such as VMware vRealize Suite, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
