Job Description

Purpose:
Carry out operation and maintenance of StarHub’s submarine cable systems so as to ensure optimal quality of service, uninterrupted network traffic, and deliver customers’ facilities and interconnection requests

Responsibilities:
⦁    Operate and maintain the submarine equipment and telecommunication systems at our cable landing station
⦁    Test, implement and troubleshoot communication equipment and links
⦁    Develop, administer and update operational procedures of the cable station, consortia equipment, co-location and interconnection
⦁    Perform 24x7 standby duties and attend to technical faults (dry and wet segments), including fault localization and repair works
⦁    Support the implementation of M&E, building facilities, and outside plant infrastructure systems
⦁    Manage co-location onboarding projects, including cabling, fiber patching and troubleshooting activities
⦁    Facilitate site survey and inspection, installation and commissioning relating to submarine cable and co-location projects
⦁    Manage consortia and co-location customers’ access, logistics, risk assessment, security and other requirements
⦁    Plan and deliver co-location customers’ facilities requests, including the allocation and utilisation of floor space and electrical power
⦁    Maintain documentation of all co-location customers’ co-located facilities, test equipment, spares, and interconnection services in our cable station
⦁    Carry out the role of an onboard-ship representative during out-at-sea submarine cable projects, surveys and repair activities
 

Qualifications

⦁    Appropriate qualification in Electrical/Electronics/ Communication Engineering
⦁    Team player, self-motivated and able to work independently
⦁    Strong analytical, project management, system testing and problem-solving skills
⦁    Willing to carry out late-night assignments during maintenance window period, and perform 24x7 standby duties including weekends and public holidays
⦁    Willing to be deployed at Changi North Crescent cable station
