Job Description

Role Overview
As a Principal Quality Engineering Manager at StarHub, you will be responsible for defining and driving our organization-wide Quality Engineering strategy. You will oversee multiple teams and ensure that StarHub’s products, platforms, and services meet the highest standards of reliability, scalability, and customer satisfaction.
In this role, you will combine deep technical expertise in modern quality engineering practices with strong leadership and mentorship capabilities. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Implementation teams to create robust testing frameworks, processes, and automation strategies that align with both business objectives and industry best practices—including the adoption and verification of advanced AI-driven approaches .
Key Responsibilities
1.    Quality Strategy & Vision

  • Develop and implement a multi-year, organization-wide QA strategy that integrates test automation, CI/CD pipelines, data-driven metrics, and emerging AI testing methodologies.
  • Define and continuously refine standards, frameworks, and tools to drive efficient and effective testing practices.

2.    Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor multiple Quality Engineering teams (including QA Engineers, SDETs, QA Architects), setting clear goals and expectations aligned with StarHub’s leadership competencies.
  • Coach managers and senior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, ownership, and accountability.

3.    Agentic AI Testing Automation & Verification

  • Champion the development and deployment of agentic AI testing automation solutions, ensuring the robust validation of AI-driven features, services, and applications.
  • Establish and refine AI application verification processes and methodologies, guaranteeing compliance, reliability, and alignment with ethical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to explore advanced AI-driven test scenario generation, anomaly detection, and predictive analytics to maintain product quality at scale.

4.    Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, Software Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to integrate quality at every stage of the development lifecycle.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Quality Engineering in leadership discussions, ensuring alignment with StarHub’s broader technology roadmap and business goals.

5.    Process Optimization & Innovation

  • Introduce and champion advanced testing approaches (e.g., shift-left, AI-driven test automation) that accelerate release cycles and elevate overall quality.
  • Collaborate with leadership to proactively identify and mitigate risks, ensuring all major initiatives maintain a high degree of reliability and performance.

6.    Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Define KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and OKRs (Objectives & Key Results) for quality processes, using data to identify trends, optimize test coverage, and enhance product reliability.
  •  Oversee test environments, performance metrics, and compliance testing across multiple product lines.

7.    Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Communicate quality strategies, progress, and outcomes effectively to all levels of the organization, including executive leadership.
  • Represent StarHub in industry forums, conferences, and partnerships, positioning the company as a leader in Quality Engineering best practices.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Significant (12+ years) progressive experience in Quality Engineering or Software Engineering, including notable leadership or managerial responsibilities in large-scale environments .

Technical Expertise

  • Demonstrated track record of designing and implementing quality frameworks and automation strategies in complex, distributed systems.
  • Experience in AI-driven testing: Working knowledge of agentic AI automation tools, machine-learning-based testing methodologies, and AI application verification approaches.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps culture and practices, including containerization, orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD pipelines.

Leadership & Management Skills

  • Proven ability to lead multiple teams or departments, set strategic directions, and coach emerging leaders.
  • Experience managing budgets, resource allocation, and vendor/third-party relationships.
  • Outstanding communication skills to advocate for quality initiatives across diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Behavioral & Leadership Competencies

  • Demonstrated capability in strategic thinking, conflict resolution, and influencing cross-functional collaboration.
  • Skilled at mentoring senior staff, shaping organization-wide policies, and driving cultural change toward quality excellence .

Preferred/Bonus Qualifications

  • Prior experience with AI-driven test automation frameworks, AI-based test scenario generation, or machine learning platforms for QA.
  • Contributions to open-source testing projects or active participation in industry forums.
  • Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, Prince2), agile methodologies (e.g., CSM, SAFe), or DevOps tools.
