Job Description

The Lead Engineer supports the operations, maintenance, reliability, security, and capacity management of StarHub's Cable Landing Stations and submarine cable facilities. The role coordinates and overssees technical activities involving submarine cable systems, colocation facilities, interconnection services, and supporting infrastructure while ensuring compliance with regulatory, consortium, and operational requirements. The Lead Engineer provides technical guidance, mentors junior engineers, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to maintain high service availability and operational excellence.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
a. Lead the operations and maintenance of submarine cable systems, cable landing stations, and associated infrastructure.
b. Support the implementation and planning of telecommunications system in the StarHub cable landing station.
c. Lead fault management, troubleshooting, restoration, and service recovery activities for submarine cable systems and CLS facilities.
d. 24  x 7  standby with on call duties for cable station operations requirement, submarine cable systems (dry and wet segment) fault localizations and fault repair supports and coordination.
e. Oversee and provide support on the implementation of M&E, building facilities, outside plant infrastructure systems in the cable station
f. On-board representatives on vessel for submarine cable projects or repairs.
g. Coordinate with and submit reports to submarine cable consortia NOC and NA regarding consortia related activities.
h. Lead submarine cable and equipment room projects site survey/inspection, installation, and commissioning.
i. Lead the planning, implementation, and management of colocation services, interconnection facilities, cross-connect services, and customer requirements within CLS facilities.
j. Oversee equipment room facilities request to ensure efficient planning and allocation of floor space and power in the cable station. 
k. Support the implementation of colocation projects in the cable station.  
l. Review the process and procedure, and work with the relevant stakeholders to achieve better efficiency for cable consortia, backhaul and colocation services (space, power, and interconnection) in the cable station. 
m. Lead the team in maintaining and updating documentation of all submarine cable facilities, test equipment and spare plants including colocation customers’ colocation facilities and interconnection services in the cable station. 
n. Review and analyze cable station space and power usage and highlights for future requirements.
o. Mentor, coach, and develop junior engineers through structured knowledge sharing, technical training, and on-the-job learning.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
a. Degree in Electrical/Electronics/ Communication Engineering
b. Minimum 5-8 years of experience in submarine cable systems, transmission networks, cable landing station operations, telecommunications infrastructure, or related engineering fields.
c. Demonstrated leadership experience in managing technical operations, projects, and multi-stakeholder environments.
d. Strong knowledge of cable landing station operations, colocation facilities, transmission systems, power and cooling infrastructure, and physical security requirements. 
e. Experience in mentoring, coaching, and developing engineering teams.
f. Team player, self-motivated and able to work independently
