Job Description

Purpose

•    The Engineer is responsible to support daily operations of OSS systems to meet business and network objectives and improve service quality and operational efficiency. 
•    Work closely with different stakeholders to facilitate the project implementation and maintenance of existing or new software solutions. 
•    The individual in this role must support systems integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT) and participates in all software development lifecycle phases.
•    Some of the unique challenges this position will face include configuration management, process/workflow definition, customization, system/data migration and maintenance of systems. 

Responsibilities

•    Shall be familiar with the designated OSS platforms, from architectural design to daily operational tasks, including design, planning, installation, provisioning, troubleshooting, supports and maintenance of the OSS platforms including servers and appliances, database, interface, network router/switch and OSS applications.
•    Manage, monitor, optimize and troubleshoot the private/public cloud infrastructure (VMs/AWS/GCP), operating systems, application platforms, backups and components related to OSS platforms.
•    Support in-house development of workflows, network modelling and reports
•    Develops program specifications, script and software modules.
•    Prepare procedural documentation and relevant reports
•    Test and evaluate new patches or releases from vendors
•    Support the roll-out of new patches or applications
•    Set up new users' accounts and profiles, including any access issues faced by the users
•    Able to investigate, analyze, and resolve complex technical problems. Identifies and manages interfaces, service levels, standards, and configurations. Translates or map business requirements into proper solutions to be delivered on OSS.
•    Demonstrates good understanding of the business needs driving the projects
•    Able to liaise with vendors on change requests and put-up necessary purchase requisitions.
•    Able to provide technical advice and supports to the users on existing and new software systems.
•    Able to perform project management role in tenders, project implementation and maintenance contract negotiation.

Qualifications

• At least 4 to 5 years of relevant experience in Telecom OSS, application development implementation, design solutions or maintenance of software applications and system platforms
• A diploma/degree in Computer Science, Computer engineering, Information Technology or equivalent
• Experience in operation and day to day user support of Telco OSS Performance & Assurance Platforms and Inventory solutions
• Experience in VMware and Cloud Infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Others) and RedHat Openshift technologies
• Hands-on on system administration of 
• Operating Systems (Windows/RHEL/CentOS)
• Database Systems (MYSQL/SQL server/Oracle)
• Administration of Servers/Router/Switch experience
• Proficiency with an application/web server under Windows/UNIX/Linux environments
• Knowledge in network operation workflow
• Knowledge in telco network such as Fixed, IP and Mobile Networks 
• Knowledge in application deployment on containers
• Experience in project management and stakeholder management
• Programming skills and Development Experience in Java/PHP/Python, Web Services, Rest will be added advantage
• Willingness to study and apply programming/cloud computing skills to fulfil business requirements
• Passion for software development, automation and new technologies in telecommunication industry
• The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• The individual may have varying levels of responsibility depending on project needs
• This position requires interaction with internal staff, external staff, customer service and end users so effective communication & people skills are a must
