Engineer (Network Monitoring System)
PURPOSE
The engineer will handle the administration, security and maintenance activities for key network monitoring systems. The engineer will also be working closely with the operation team to develop tools and solutions to fulfil business and operation needs related to Service Assurance and Operation Centre, including integration with other OSS/BSS systems, process automation and enhancement. This requires excellent organization, problem-solving skills, with hands-on experience in system administration and software development preferably with telecommunications background.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer, maintain, and upgrade existing systems, ensuring robust security monitoring and hardening.
- Integrate network elements into monitoring platforms and manage major system upgrades.
- Provide 24/7 standby support for system, application, and software troubleshooting to ensure rapid service restoration.
- Participate in code development and optimization; deploy automated scripts and software tools to streamline processes.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, assess new opportunities, and manage vendor deliveries.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation and conduct user training sessions to empower internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
1. Educational Background
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related technical discipline.
2. Linux Administration & System Security
- Solid hands-on experience in Linux administration with a focus on server stability and network performance.
- 1–2 years of experience managing system security and ensuring infrastructure integrity.
3. High Availability & Operational Support
- Dedicated to maximizing system uptime through proactive troubleshooting and efficient incident restoration.
- Committed to 24/7 standby availability to ensure continuous business operations.
4. Cloud, DevOps & Automation
- Proficient in Cloud Platforms: Practical exposure to AWS, GCP, Azure, and Alibaba.
- DevOps & Containers: Skilled in Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, and DevSecOps practices.
- Programming & Scripting: Strong skills in Python, JavaScript, and Shell scripting; proficient in Git/GitHub for version control.
- Data & Monitoring: Familiar with SQL/NoSQL databases, Elasticsearch, Grafana, and REST/YAML.
5. Networking & Infrastructure Expertise
- Network Protocols: Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols for LAN/WAN.
- Service Assurance: Experienced in telecom service assurance, network monitoring methodologies, and telemetry concepts
- Certifications: Strong grasp of routing technologies, ideally complemented by CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA.
6. Project Execution & Adaptability
- Proven ability to rapidly master new technologies and adapt to evolving technical landscapes.
