Job Description

StarHub is hiring an SEO Assistant Manager to own organic search and AI visibility across our web estate. This is a hands-on role with real scope: you will manage technical SEO across active platform migrations, run a live content pipeline, and build out our AI and GEO visibility strategy as the search landscape shifts. You will be the primary SEO voice across product, engineering, and marketing teams, translating strategy into requirements and requirements into results.

Technical SEO

  • Own crawl health, indexation, and Core Web Vitals across multiple site properties.
  • Write and deliver SEO requirements for platform migrations and new build projects.
  • Manage redirect strategy, sitemap hygiene, schema markup deployment, and meta tag optimisation at scale.
  • Use working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to communicate effectively with developers and QA your own implementations.
  • Work with enterprise crawl platforms such as Botify and Screaming Frog for audits and ongoing site monitoring.

Content and On-page

  • Manage a blog content pipeline covering briefs, review, publishing, and optimisation across multiple topic verticals.
  • Use AI tools such as Gemini and Claude as part of an efficient content production workflow, applying strong editorial judgement to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Explore and develop content formats that serve both users and search engines, including structured layouts, comparison content, and formats that perform well in traditional search and AI-generated responses.
  • Build internal linking architecture to strengthen topical authority across topic clusters.

Off-page SEO and Brand Authority

  • Develop and execute a link acquisition strategy, identifying high-quality opportunities through competitor backlink analysis, content partnerships, and digital PR.
  • Work with the marcoms and PR teams to maximise the SEO value of brand activity, press coverage, and campaign content through strategic placement and linking practices.
  • Monitor brand mentions across the web and identify opportunities to convert unlinked mentions into backlinks.
  • Manage and maintain local SEO signals across StarHub's retail presence, including citations, directory listings, and Google Business Profile accuracy.
  • Track domain authority trends and referring domain growth as part of regular SEO reporting.

AI and GEO Visibility

  • Collaborate with marcoms and product teams to ensure new pages are built with AI discoverability in mind from the start rather than retrofitted after launch.
  • Monitor and grow StarHub's presence across AI-generated search surfaces including Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and other emerging LLM-powered discovery channels.
  • Build and maintain a structured AI visibility tracking programme covering citation rates, share of voice against key competitors, and content gaps where competitors appear instead.
  • Develop schema and content strategies written specifically to be cited in AI responses, including entity-rich copy that answers consumer queries directly.
  • Stay current on how major AI platforms crawl, index, and surface content, and translate that into practical changes to site structure, content format, and metadata.

Qualifications

Must Have

  • 4 or more years in SEO, with direct ownership of technical SEO for a high-traffic site.
  • Hands-on experience with platform migrations covering redirects, crawl validation, and post-launch monitoring.
  • SEO experience with e-commerce or transactional sites, including product listing / detail pages, and the technical complexity that comes with large-scale catalogue URLs.
  • Proficiency with Ahrefs, Google Search Console, and an enterprise crawl platform such as Botify or Screaming Frog.
  • Comfortable generating schema markup in JSON-LD and deploying structured data at scale.
  • Basic working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript sufficient to read source code, QA implementations, and write clear developer requirements.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager (6.3 & Cloud) and Adobe Analytics.
  • Experience using AI tools productively in a content workflow, with strong editorial judgement to validate output.
  • Demonstrated ability to run competitor and keyword research and translate findings into a clear strategy.

Strong Advantage

  • Experience with JavaScript-rendered sites such as Vue.js, Nuxt.js, or React, and familiarity with the SEO risks they introduce.
  • AEO and GEO exposure covering AI Overviews optimisation, structured content for AI citation, and AI visibility tracking.
  • Background in telco, e-commerce, or a similarly complex multi-section site environment.
  • Experience managing SEO across multiple site properties or domains simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with Google Merchant Centre and an understanding of how product feeds, structured data, and free listings interact with organic search.
