The Assistant Finance Manager will assist the Finance Manager in ensuring the proper accounting and financial reporting for operating expenses (OPEX), Inventory & fixed assets, including effective operations of the general ledger, financial closing, financial and statutory reporting, internal controls, business processes and systems.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Fixed Assets, Inventory, Content & Opex & Leasing reporting
• Assist to oversee a team of accountants & senior accountants from onshore and BPO offshore.
• Review and ensure balance sheet and profit & loss items are recognized in accordance with accounting standards and practices.
• Monitor inventory transactions and reconcile inventory accounts to the general ledger.
• Conduct periodic inventory count and prepares reconciliation to inventory systems and SAP.
• Collaborate with Product, Billing and IS teams on new product launch to ensure systems and processes are properly set up before its launch to ensure accurate revenue accounting.
• Perform UAT when necessary, for example on new product launches and system testing. This includes setting of test scenarios, performing user acceptance test and updating of standard operating procedures.
• To review cost, and coordinate with content business team on content channels renewals and subscribers’ reporting.
• To review daily operations relating to StarHub direct, operating expenses, leasing, inventory and fixed assets reporting.
• To review monthly, quarterly, and yearly variance analysis.
• To coordinate and review audit schedules and quarter reporting packs.
• To perform business accounting assessments, including but not limited to SFRS(I)16.
• To guide team and review on any new, modification or termination of leases.
• To support and coordinate in all internal and external audits matters.
• To provide accounting advice to and support internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with company’s corporate accounting policies and financial accounting standards.
• Other ad-hoc task, if any.
Qualifications
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in accountancy or equivalent with 3 years and above experience in audit and accounting.
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS accounting and its application.
• Applicants with working knowledge of IFRS 16 & inventory accounting is an added advantage.
• Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP system.
• Self-motivated, resourceful, inquisitive.
• A good team player with strong interpersonal skills with the confidence and maturity to effectively work with different levels in the organization.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• Meticulous, self-motivated, inquisitive, and resourceful.
• Effective communication abilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in data visualization tools such as power BI, macros, etc is an added advantage.
