Job Description

We are looking for a Data Protection Senior Manager to ensure StarHub’s compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act (“PDPA”). This role will be part of our Government & Strategic Affairs Team. Key responsibilities include advising on StarHub’s compliance with the local data protection laws, monitoring our adherence to PDPA standards, creating policies that enforce compliance with legislation, and delivering PDPA trainings to our staff to increase awareness of data protection measures.

To be successful in this role, the Data Protection Senior Manager must have an in-depth knowledge of PDPA and local data protection laws.  Familiarity with our industry is not a must, but the ability to perform audits on our current procedures is essential.

As a member of the Government & Strategic Affairs Team, the Data Protection Senior Manager who reports into the DPO, will also be involved in other areas of regulatory compliance, particularly in regard to media and broadcasting matters.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain StarHub’s Data Protection Management Programme (DPDM)
  • Maintain adherence to Trustmark framework
  • Identify and evaluate the company’s data processing activities and propose controls in place to ensure that personal and sensitive data are well protected
  • Work with StarHub’s Business Units to put in place a DPIA (Data Protection Impact Analysis) framework
  • Work with StarHub’s HR, Business Units, and Function Heads to raise awareness of PDPA among employees
  • Keep management updated on the latest developments on PDPA and its impact to business
  • Act as the Point of Contact for public’s requests on PDPA related matters
  • Ensure PDPA Compliance on DNC registry & Access/Correction Obligations
  • Conduct PDPA Compliance Checks
  • Participate and lead in Breach Incident Process Task force in the event of data breach incidents
  • Work with the Data Protection Authority on upcoming regulations
  • Act as a regulatory advisor on media matters (training will be provided) from time to time.
  • Participate actively upstream to influence regulators (IMDA and PDPC) by crafting and submitting feedback on ongoing consultation papers for favorable policies and regulations to promote the company’s business interests; and
  • Manage, influence and build good relationships with the Regulators and other DPOs / Regulatory personnel in the industry

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline, CIPP qualification is desirable but not a must
  • With at least more than 10 years of working experience and at least 6-8 years of relevant PDPA governance
  • Experience in regional data privacy matters would be an advantage
  • Deep knowledge and application of PDPA law
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills
  • Organized with attention to details
