Job Description

Role Purpose:

 

Reporting to the VP, the primary focus of this role is to develop and coach a high-performing, multi-discipline Scrum team to live and breathe Agile values and principles towards successful customer first products and service delivery for our digital office supporting our enterprise business unit. The Scrum Master helps the Scrum team perform at their highest level. This involves removing any impediments to progress, facilitating Scrum ceremonies, working with the Product Owner to make sure the product backlog is well groomed, tracking Sprint delivery, and ensuring high value delivery per Sprint.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Coaches the team in Agile Scrum values and principles
  • Facilitates backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, iteration and sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives & release planning
  • Manages & actively resolves impediments in a timely manner, including impediments outside of the Scrum team
  • Identifies team dependencies and actively plans to ensure they don’t negatively impact the performance of the Scrum team
  • Builds a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised with an emphasis on problem solving
  • Tracks and ruthlessly manages Scrum metrics to pro-actively course correct, capacity plan and ensure highest value items are delivered first
  • Ensures scaled Agile alignment by participating in Scrum of Scrum ceremonies
  • Manages conflicts, challenges and dynamic business requirements to keep development, velocity & value delivered per Sprint at high levels
  • Able to do post-mortem and root cause analysis to help teams continuously improve their practices to ensure maximum productivity
  • Supports the education of Scrum practices across the organization and into other teams that can benefit from Scrum
  • Understands and embeds DevOps practices
  • Facilitates getting the work done without coercion, assigning or dictating work

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business IT, Engineering or related discipline with Scrum Master certification
  • Experience in software design and development, with minimum 3 years in Agile projects
  • Prior exposure to agile development methodologies such as SCRUM, Kanban, SAFe, LESS, and/or XP Programming.
  • Experience in coaching, facilitating and training teams in Agile concepts and practices
  • Strong collaborative problem solver
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to resolve issues & remove blockers
  • Good knowledge of Design Thinking and Lean
  • Collaborative and effective communication and interpersonal skills with ability to manage multiple stakeholders to deliver within challenging timelines
  • Knowledge and prior experience of Jira an advantage
  • Knowledge of enterprise digital products and services
